About Darina

My name is Darina.

Photography has been part of me for as long as I can remember. One of my earliest memories is a walk in the park with my parents when I was barely a year old. My mum was taking photographs of us, and all I wanted was to hold that camera. She would not hand it over, and I cried and cried. I still remember exactly how much I wanted it.

2005

Years later, I turned that wish into a profession.

I studied photography at Ealing, Hammersmith and West London College. Those years taught me that a good photographer never stops learning, and I have kept to that every day since. Photography has become a lifelong way of growing, personally and professionally, and, in its own small way, of making the world a little kinder.

2013 to now

How does a photograph make the world kinder? By helping people see themselves with love. Everyone carries a beauty, inside and out, that they cannot always see for themselves, and showing it to them is the heart of what I do. Since 2013 I have photographed families, mothers-to-be and newborns, and captured the special moments of weddings and christenings. I welcome every new idea and every project, however challenging it may be.

A good part of my work happens before the camera comes up. I take the time to put people at ease, so they can relax and simply be themselves, and that is when the real photographs happen. Every session leaves a little more happiness behind than it found, and that is why I cannot imagine doing anything else.
